Terms & Conditions

Who Can Participate

  • This competition is open to everyone attending SMASH! on Sunday, 21st July 2024.
  • SMASH! Staff and Crew are not allowed to enter.

How to Participate

  1. Register through the link given on the @smashcon social media or using the button above!
    Please note that registrations will be capped at 32 participants, any after that will be put in reserve.
  2. Arrive at the Gaming Registration Desk for the Elimination Rounds 30 minutes prior to the commencement time, which will commence at 1:00 PM on Sunday, 21st July.
  3. The Gaming Registration Desk is located on the left at the rear of the gaming area. There will be signage guiding you to it.
  4. Be sure to bring some form of photo identification with you, so we can verify that you’re an entrant that has signed up for the competition.
  5. If you are successful through the elimination rounds, please return to the Gaming Registration Desk 30 minutes prior to the commencement time of 3:00 PM for the semi-finals matches.
  6. If you are successful in the semi-finals match, then you will immediately play the finals match in the PC Tournaments Area which will be streamed live on the Gaming Stage at 3:30 PM.
  7. There will also be the option to register in-person at the Gaming Registration Desk. Please keep in mind that signing up in-person will not guarantee you a spot in the tournament and you may be placed on a reserve list in the case another contestant does not show up.

How to Register

Online Registration

Online registration will remain open until Friday 19th July 2024 11:00 PM (AEST) unless max participants are reached prior.

On the Day Signup

We will also have some last minute slots available on the day of the tournament, so be sure to come by the info desk if you have missed the opportunity to sign up online!

General Rules

  1. Only 32 participant slots for the elimination brackets. If there are more than 32 entrants to the tournament, these players will go into a reserve list.
  2. Each player is permitted to bring their own peripherals if they wish.
  3. Self-brought peripherals are the entrant’s responsibility. SMASH! takes no responsibility for any damaged or lost peripherals that an entrant may bring.
  4. Drivers won’t be allowed to be manually installed, if peripherals are not compatible then participants will need to use the provided keyboard and mouse.
  5. Each player will have a warm-up period prior to their match where they can adjust the controls as well as get a little bit of playtime in as well.
  6. Each player will play a one-versus-one (“1v1”)match with the winner proceeding to the next round.
  7. The Round of 32, 16 and 8 will be played as a Best of 3 (“Bo3“) on 3 maps chosen by the participants.
  8. The Semi-Final matches will be played as a Bo3 on 3 maps chosen by the participants.
  9. The Grand Final will be played as a Best of 5 (“Bo5”) on 5 chosen maps, 2 by each player and a randomly selected tiebreaker map should it be required.
  10. Equipment will be supplied for participants.
  11. This will be a PC running the game on Windows controlled by a keyboard and mouse setup.
  12. In-game Controls may be modified during the warm-up period.
  13. Any decisions made by the judges are final and will not be subjected to dispute.

Tournament Rules

  • Beatmap scoring is based on Score V2.
  • One beatmap will be given as a tiebreaker beatmap. This beatmap will only be played in case of a tie.
  • A fail is considered an automatic loss of a point.
  • Use of the Visual Settings to alter background dim or disable beatmap elements like storyboards and skins are allowed.
  • If the beatmap ends in a draw, the game will be nullified.
  • Beatmaps cannot be reused in the same match unless the game was nullified.
  • Lag is not a valid reason to nullify a beatmap.
  • The multiplayer chatrooms underlie the osu! community rules. All chat rules apply to the multiplayer chatrooms, too.
  • Penalties for violating the tournament rules can be:
  • Declaring the match as Lost by Default
  • Disqualification from the entire tournament
  • Disqualification from the current and future official tournaments until appealed

Any modification of these rules will be announced.

Tournament Format

The tournament will be played as a 32 player, single elimination tournament. The format will consist of playing the standard multiplayer game and will be split into the following stages:

  • Group Stages (Rounds of 32, 16, 8) - Best of 3 (“Bo3”)
  • Semi Finals - Bo3
  • Finals - Best of 5 (“Bo5)
