J-Fashion Area
For the first time in SMASH!’s history, we will be welcoming all J-Fashion enthusiasts and lovers to our brand new J-Fashion section!
SMASH! has introduced a brand-new department as part of its initiative to grow the increasing popularity and local community of J-Fashion through a collaboration with UTS Alternative Fashion Society (AFS). SMASH!’s J-Fashion section will have a dedicated AFS-run booth, including two J-Fashion-inspired photowalls, a retail/thrifting market, and an accessory craft space.
Retail area
AFS has designed a retail area complete with second-hand clothing and handmade accessories from small local brands for your J-fashion fix! This is a great place for Jfashion newbies to get their first pieces and learn about the ins and outs of shopping for Jfashion in the future.
Oshikatsu crafting area
Oshikatsu is a popular hobby amongst Jirai Kei and Ryousangata lovers. It refers to activities you do to support your idol. Oshikatsu crafting can involve making toploaders, rosettes, ita bags, uchiwa fans, and nui clothes to show off your idol's merchandise in! You can bring merchandise to decorate with you on the day, and if you happen to buy photo cards or badges from the artist alley at SMASH!, you can bring them to decorate at our Oshikatsu crafting area too!
Crafting area rules:
- Materials are selected and paid for before guests can start using them
- Please clean up your mess as you make things
Please note: Price is 35 cents per gram of materials, bases paid for separately.
Photo walls
AFS will be creating 2 photo sets for J-fashion lovers to take pictures of their gorgeous outfits during SMASH! The first photo set includes a sweet and cute theme, with mostly pink, white, and cream tones, whilst the second photo set caters towards a dark, gothic audience who love black and red. We hope that these two photo sets will allow fashion lovers of various styles to enjoy a free photo experience to capture their gorgeous outfits! Please note that this is a self-serve photobooth. We recommend you bring a friend to help take your photo and to use a ringlight, as the ICC lighting can be unflattering.
Photobooth rules:
- No bare skin on the set, aside from hands, forearms, and legs
- Each person/group can only spend 5 minutes on the photo set
- Photo set staff have the right to refuse entry
