DPC Director

The Department of People and Culture (DPC) looks after the wellbeing of Staff and Crew as one large unit. Splitting in to their own allocated departments, the DPC Director is the overall responsible person for up to 1000 total volunteers annually.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Managing the overall DPC budget, including all recreational activities
  • Directly managing the respective Staff, Crew and Wellbeing Directors
  • Ensuring accurate record-keeping of the Volunteer Code of Conduct (VCC) and subsequent policies
  • Volunteer record-keeping, being a point of contact for grievance escalations

Scope & responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly 1x1 with Directors in their remit
  • Organising monthly all hands meetings with all crew/staff coordinators and leads
  • Responsible for total budget allocation, including recreational activities, food and uniforms (crew and staff)
  • Responsible for internal escalations (crew and staff)
  • Record keeping and new HRMS application implementation for 2026
  • Volunteer conduct and training (crew and staff)
  • Volunteer wellbeing and checkins (crew and staff)
  • Volunteer retention and intervention when needed (crew and staff)
  • Feedback implementation through a new anonymous process (crew and staff)
  • Pulse surveys throughout the year (crew and staff)
  • Achieving a positive NPS for all staff and crew for 2026
  • Ensuring systems have anonymity and only required people access relevant records (crew and staff)
  • Achieve and sustain an accessible platform for all (crew and staff)
  • Professional development and contract alignment (crew and staff)
  • Liaison for SMASH! School initiatives (crew specific)
  • Refining internal processes and documentation for organisational alignment (crew and staff)
  • Creation and support of OTD staff roles (Crew to Staff)
  • Liaise with the Director of Staff and Attendee wellbeing for Mental Health and fatigue management
  • Management-specific training (Crew Co-ordinators, Staff Coordinators and leads) (Conflict Resolution, Leading Teams, Mental Health and Fatigue Awareness, Confident Writing Skills)
  • Implementation of a new role - OTD specific Coordinator (liaise and work closely with Crew Director and coordinators)
