Our international guests love meeting their fans! They may sign autographs, take a selfie with you, or host their own panel, so there’s plenty of opportunities to meet your idols. Here you can find out exactly when and where our VIPs will hold their events, so stay tuned, and you will become the MVP!

FAQs

Guest Engagement

I have a gift for the guest. How can I give it to them?

Guests appreciate these small gestures, but please avoid anything large or bulky, heavy as most guests fly quite a distance to appear at SMASH!, and may have limited space in their luggage! If you have brought something special for the guest, such as a personal note or a small gift, we ask that you follow guidelines for practical and safety reasons.

  • Due to COVID safety plans, SMASH! staff in the Signing Area will collect and present the gift to the guest(s) on your behalf.
  • Any gifts you bring should be small, durable, and easily packed.
  • Please note that no food items will be accepted.

Please note that SMASH! staff reserves the right to reject the gift on behalf of the guest. If you have a question about policy and procedures, please see the SMASH! staff in charge of the guest signings in the Signing Area.

Can I take photos / audios / videos of the guests?

You are allowed take photos and audio/video recording of the guest(s), so long as you do not cause a disturbance in the flow of the crowd, heavy traffic areas, and do not affect the operation of SMASH! or cause discomfort to other attendees, guests, staff and crew.

Please be mindful of and follow any ‘No photography’ or ‘No flash photography’ signs and follow the instructions of SMASH! staff and crew. If you do not adhere to SMASH! policy, you will be requested by SMASH! staff to store recording devices away, move on or to relocate.

What kind of interaction with the guest(s) is allowed at the signing table?

While attendees are encouraged to converse with guests with a simple and brief comment (e.g. hi, hello, thank you), we ask all attendees to refrain from requesting any actions or other forms of interaction from the guest. Please be mindful of other attendees in the line so that the queue can move efficiently. Due to COVID precautions, any form of physical contact with the guests is strictly prohibited.

SMASH! staff reserve the right to refuse access to any attendee who fails to follow the rules or attempts to circumvent them. If you have a question about policy and procedures, please see the SMASH! staff in charge of the guest signings in the Signing Area.

My friend is getting an autograph from the guest with a valid wristband. Can I line up with them while I wait for them?

Unfortunately, due to limited spaces in the queuing area and maintaining COVID precaution measures, only the attendees with the correct wristband will be allowed to enter the queuing area. In order to ensure the safety of you and your fellow attendees, we kindly ask you to wait elsewhere in the convention area. We also highly encourage you to arrange with your friend to meet up after the signing session.

Guest Signing Sessions

How many item(s) can I get signed by the guest?

You are limited to receiving an autograph for ONE ITEM PER PERSON WITH CORRECT SIGNING WRISTBAND. Please note that the wristband is not transferable to another attendee. If you have any questions, please see the SMASH! staff.

What type of pens will be available for guests to use for signing?

On the day, guests will have a choice of three colours – black, silver, and gold – permanent markers.

When should I be there for the signing session?

In order to ensure the safety of you and your fellow attendees, we ask that you line up no more than 15 minutes prior to the signing session. We also ask you to be at the signing session no later than 30 minutes prior to the end of signing session. Signing sessions may end earlier than scheduled time period at the discretion of the SMASH! staff.

Can I get my signed item personalised by the guest?

Yes, you can, unless a specific limit is placed by a particular guest! As you enter the signing line 15 minutes before the signing session, SMASH! staff in the area will clearly write your name for you on a Post-it Note. If we missed you, please ask for our friendly SMASH! staff in the Signing Area to get a Post-it Note with your name.

Due to time constraints, please limit any form of written personalisation request to a name only. This includes, but not limited to, asking the guest to add small art or phrases related to their roles.

I do not have an item to get signed. Do you have something that I can get an autograph on?

Yes! At all of our signing sessions, you have the option to get a *free* SMASH! board (a blank paper board) where you can get an autograph from the guest.
Please note that Cosplayer Guests: Hikarin and Yosuke Sora will only be signing their own merchandise (available for purchase in the Guest Merchandise Booth in Signing Area).

What can I get autographed and what can’t I get autographed?

You may bring a single item that is official and licensed merchandise of the guest. If you are not sure, please ask the SMASH! staff in charge of the guest signings in the Signing Area. Please note that guests will not sign bootlegged or unlicensed merchandise.

  • Cosplayer Guests: Hikarin and Yosuke Sora will only be signing their own merchandise (available for purchase in the Guest Merchandise Booth in Signing Area).
  • Other Guests: They will sign items brought by the attendees as long as the items are appropriate. Please be mindful of your item of choice as the guests may decline any items that are of body parts, fan art, clothing or props, and items with depictions of lewd or suggestive imagery. Please remember that you have the option to get a *free* SMASH! board (a blank paper board) where you can get an autograph from the guest.

If you have any questions about an item, you want autographed, please ask the SMASH! staff in charge of the guest signings in the Signing Area. Please remember that you are limited to receiving an autograph for ONE ITEM PER PERSON WITH CORRECT SIGNING WRISTBAND so please think carefully about your choice!

What COVID precautions are you taking for signings this year?

  • Only the attendees collecting wristbands or those with wristbands will be allowed in the Signing Area. There will be queue management and crowd control implemented to encourage social distancing where possible.
  • We highly recommend bringing and wearing a surgical mask while queueing in the Signing Area and when speaking to the guests.
  • No gifts to be given to the guests directly. SMASH! staff will collect gifts on behalf of the guest.
  • If you bring a personal item to be signed, hands must be sanitised before sharing the item with a SMASH! crew or staff who will hand the guest the item. Hand sanitiser will be available for attendees to use in Signing Area.
  • No physical contact with the guest (this means no handshakes, hugs or other close contact).

Guest Wristbands

Do I have to pay for the guest signing event?

For SMASH! 2022, we have pre-paid or free guest signing events. The spaces for pre-paid events – for YouTubers and VTubers – have already been exhausted. You can check online for any available sessions for free signing events for Kevin Penkin, Hikarin and Yosuke Sora.

Do I need different wristbands for each guest and how many can I get?

Yes, each guest requires a specific wristband. There are 7 different wristbands available in total. You must present the valid QR code and ID to claim your wristband on the day.

  • The Anime Man – Pre-paid Signing Session

For hololive Meet & Greet events on Saturday, you need to arrive for the session 15 minutes before to get your QR code and ID checked.

Can I get the signing wristband for my friend?

Unfortunately, the wristbands are not transferable, and you cannot collect it on behalf of another individual. So, if you have the wristband, you yourself must get the autograph. If there are any signs of the wristband being transferred (e.g., damaged, etc), it may be regarded as invalid, and you will not be eligible for entry for the signing session at the discretion of the SMASH! staff in charge of the guest signings in the Signing Area.

I am a staff/crew volunteer in SMASH!. Where and how can I get signing wristbands?

If you have a valid QR code and ID, then you can join the queue and collect the wristband at any time from the Signing Area. For volunteer signing events, please contact our Department of People & Culture for more information.

I am an exhibitor/vendor in SMASH!. Where and how can I get signing wristbands?

If you have a valid QR code and ID, then you can join the queue and collect the wristband at any time from the Signing Area. If you have any questions, please see the SMASH! staff in charge of the guest signings in the Signing Area.

I am a ticket or pass “X” holder in SMASH!. Where and how can I get signing wristbands?

I have more than 1 wristband and their times clash. What should I do?

In order to give the greatest number of fans the opportunity to meet the guest, some of our signing sessions may have clashing time periods. We ask that you take responsibility for your own schedule to be present at each session/event. If you are unable to make one of the signing sessions due to a time clash, SMASH! will not be liable to give any special consideration.

If you are already in the queue to wait for multiple guests in the same signing session, please ask the SMASH! staff in charge of the guest signings in the Signing Area for their instructions.

I got a signing wristband from Saturday, but I missed the signing session. Can I use it for Sunday?

Unfortunately, the wristbands are assigned for each day and so, they are not transferable to the next day. You will have to collect a new and valid wristband again the next day.

Lotteries

What is the lottery for?

SMASH! is running a number of limited-capacity guest events this year, and the opportunity to participate in these events will be determined through an open lottery system. Entry into the lottery is only available for valid SMASH! General Attendee pass (this includes tickets purchased in 2020 and 2021) holders. The events are as follows:

  • 1-on-1 Meet & Greet with Hakos Baelz – Sat 16 July 2022, 3:30pm – 4:30pm
  • 1-on-1 Meet & Greet with Tsukumo Sana – Sat 16 July 2022, 4:30pm – 5:30pm

What is the lottery process?

We are implementing a lottery process for limited-capacity events this year. This means you will need to first enter a lottery for a chance to attend these events. The lottery winners will be selected at random, and the winners will be getting an email from us to confirm their attendance!

Why are you running a lottery for these events?

We want to give fans the fairest opportunity to attend the limited-capacity guest events this year. The lottery process allows us to provide an equal chance to all SMASH! General Attendee pass holders, avoiding the need to line up on the days of convention or any technical issues that could occur.

Do I have to pay money to enter the lottery?

Entry to a lottery is FREE for valid SMASH! 2022 General Attendee pass holders. While the entry to a lottery is free, you will need to purchase and pay for the Meet & Greet event ticket if you are a winner of the lottery to that specific event.

What are the requirements to enter the lottery?

All you need is to have a valid SMASH! 2022 General Attendee pass for the day of the event (this includes tickets purchased in 2020 and 2021). For example, to enter the lottery for an event on Saturday, you must have either a Saturday pass or a Weekend pass.

The General Attendee pass MUST be under your own name as we will be checking IDs. Remember, once you have entered the lottery, you will not be able to change your ticket anymore, so make sure you have the correct name and ticket!

How do I enter a lottery?

When do lotteries open or close?

Please check social media for all the opening and closing times for each lottery as times may change. Make sure you take note of the day we draw winners to check your email!

How many times can I enter the lottery?

Each valid SMASH! 2022 General Attendee pass (this includes tickets purchased in 2020 and 2021) will allow you only ONE ENTRY into each event. Once you enter, you will receive an email confirming your entry to the lottery.

I have a crew/staff/media/exhibitor etc. pass. Can I enter the lottery?

Due to the limited capacity, we can only offer entry to these events to our General Attendees. If you hold another SMASH! pass and wish to enter a lottery, then you will need to purchase a valid SMASH! 2022 General Attendee pass (this includes tickets purchased in 2020 and 2021) to enter.

How do I know that I’ve won the lottery?

The lottery winners will receive an email after the draw has taken place. You will then need to pay for the event ticket within the time frame stated in the email, so please double check when the lottery draw happens so you don’t miss out! Unsuccessful participants will not be notified.

How do I pay for the event once I’ve won the lottery?

Your ticket will be updated in your SMASH! Account to include payment instructions to pay for the event you won the lottery for. Once you have completed the purchase, your ticket will be updated to include the guest event ticket which can be redeemed on the day of the event.

Is there a time limit to pay for the tickets after winning the lottery?

Once you win a lottery, the email you receive will give you instructions on how to pay and when to pay by. If you miss the deadline, the ticket will be returned to the lottery system to be assigned to another participant of the lottery.

What do I have to do on the day of the event?

Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled event start time with your SMASH! 2022 ticket and a valid form of photo identification. SMASH! staff will be conducting ID checks on the day of the event to confirm your attendance at the event.

I suddenly can’t make it to SMASH! 2022 after I won and accepted a lottery. Can I transfer the event ticket/lottery to another person?

Unfortunately, the accepted event tickets are not transferable to another person.

I bought more SMASH! tickets to get more entries into the lottery. If I do not win, can I receive a refund on the ticket I purchased?

Refunds and ticket downgrades are not permitted unless for exceptional circumstances. Purchasing tickets for the purpose of entering the lottery will not be grounds for a refund. Please consider your purchase carefully before proceeding with your order. Please see our Ticketing Policy for more details.

Will every guest event be a lottery?

No, only selected events with a very limited capacity will be using the lottery system. Please keep an eye out on our social media and our website for updates on all guest events!
