Marikart Grand Prix

Bring the karts out once more, because the Marikart Grand Prix has returned for SMASH! 2026! Battle it out with fellow racers until 16 are left standing for the Final Race. Showcase your shell accuracy, unleash your power ups, and prove that you have what it takes to claim victory among elite racers and become the SMASH! 2026 MariKart champion!

Terms & Conditions

Application Submission

Registrations will be open online at 12pm, Monday 1st June, 2026 until all 64 participant slots are full or until 12am, Monday 21st June, 2026. If you have been successfully registered, you will be notified by email with your match starting time one week before the convention.You must check in at least 15 minutes on the day before your allotted time at the Gaming area!

Who Can Participate

  • Anyone who has a ticket to enter SMASH! 2026 (Weekend, Sunday, Exhibitors or Media)
  • SMASH! Staff and Crew are not allowed to enter
  • You must be above the age of 12 years old, no exceptions
  • Participants must supply their own Switch 2 and copy of Mario Kart World

Schedule

  • 10:30 AM - Elimination Match (Group A)
  • 11:00 AM - Elimination Match (Group B)
    • Top 8 of Group A & B will become Group E
  • 11:30 AM - Elimination Match (Group C)
  • 12:00 PM - Elimination Match (Group D)
    • Top 8 of Group C & D will become Group F
  • 12:30 PM - Elimination Match (Group E)
  • 1:00 PM - Elimination Match (Group F)
    • Top 8 of Group E & F will proceed to Final Grand Prix
  • 2:00 PM - Final Grand Prix

Format

Elimination Rounds

In the first Elimination Round, racers will compete for the highest score in 4 races. The format will be 150cc, No Assists, Frantic Items, All Vehicles, Smart Steering Off. Top 8 scorers of each match will advance through to the next round.

In the second Elimination Round, racers will compete for the highest score in 4 races. The format will be 150cc, No Assists, Normal Items, All Vehicles, Smart Steering Off. Top 8 scorers of each match move on to the Final Grand Prix.

Final Grand Prix

In the Final Grand Prix, racers will compete for the highest score in 16 races. The format will be 150cc, No Assists, Normal Items, All Vehicles, Smart Steering Off. Top 3 scorers will win a place on the podium.

Sudden Death

In the case where during:

  • Elimination Round ~ There is a Draw on 4th place, a Sudden Death Race will occur.
  • Final Grand Prix ~ There is a Draw on any podium spots, a Sudden Death Race will occur.

The Sudden Death format will be 1 race, 200cc, No Assists, Bullet Bill Only, All Vehicles, Smart Steering Off, GCN Baby Park.
