TCG Assistant
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Pre-Event Day Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing tournament materials (e.g., score sheets, brackets, signage).
- Help coordinate and test any registration or tournament software/tools.
- Participate in pre-convention meetings or training sessions as required.
- Communicate with the TCG team to understand the schedule, tournament formats, and rules.
- Help with inventory checks of TCG-related supplies (e.g., mats, prizes, pens, etc.).
- Maintain regular contact with Department Head via official channels,
- Able to work independently with clear instructions.
Event Days Responsibilities:
- Set up TCG area, including tables, signage, and registration booth.
- Greet and assist attendees with registration and check-in.
- Help manage tournament logistics (round timers, player pairings, reporting results).
- Provide basic rulings or escalate to judges when necessary.
- Distribute promotional material and prizes as directed.
- Keep the play area tidy and organised.
- Act as a point of contact for TCG-related attendee questions.
- Support the Senior TCG Coordinator and team with any tasks during the event.
- Assist with pack-down and post-event clean-up of the TCG area.
- Maintain an open form of communication during the event with the Department Head.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications
- Reside in Sydney, Australia
- Easily contactable via Email & Mobile phone
- Proficiency in written English and a clear and friendly writing style
- Require availability for both days of the convention and set up day/s
- Ability to work long hours during the weekend of the event and work with a flexible, fast-paced schedule
- Ability to work in a constantly changing and high pressure environment
- Proactively handle and resolve any arising issues on the event day
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Open to constructive feedback
- Ability to take initiative for tasks and actions
- Basic TCG knowledge
Desirable:
- Experience in running or playing TCG events
- Knowledge of multiple TCGs
- Customer service or event experience
- Basic judging knowledge
- Enthusiasm for anime/game culture
- Active member of local TCG communities
- Public speaking confidence
- Previous convention or volunteer experience
