Tabletop Assistant
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Pre-Event Day Responsibilities:
- Assist in inventory checks of board games and tabletop materials.
- Help prepare signage, rule sheets, and display materials.
- Support the organisation of the game library (cataloguing, sorting).
- Attend training sessions to learn games or procedures as needed.
- Coordinate with the tabletop team on space planning and scheduling.
- Maintain regular contact with Deptartment Head via official channels,
- Able to work independently with clear instructions.
Event Days Responsibilities
- Set up and organise the tabletop area (tables, signage, games).
- Greet attendees and explain how the tabletop space works.
- Lend out and check in board games using the tracking system.
- Teach attendees how to play selected games (basic explanation).
- Monitor game usage to ensure pieces are not lost or damaged.
- Keep the area tidy and reset tables between uses.
- Assist with any scheduled tabletop events or RPG sessions.
- Answer attendee questions or direct them to the Coordinator if needed.
- Help with pack-down and post-event inventory checks.
- Maintain an open form of communication during the event with the Department Head.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications
- Reside in Sydney, Australia
- Easily contactable via Email & Mobile phone
- Proficiency in written English and a clear and friendly writing style
- Require availability for both days of the convention and set up day/s
- Ability to work long hours during the weekend of the event and work with a flexible, fast-paced schedule
- Ability to work in a constantly changing and high pressure environment
- Proactively handle and resolve any arising issues on the event day
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Open to constructive feedback
- Ability to take initiative for tasks and actions
- Basic tabletop boardgame knowledge
Desirable:
- Experience in running or playing tabletop events
- Knowledge of multiple boardgames
- Customer service or event experience
- Basic judging knowledge
- Enthusiasm for anime/game culture
- Active member of local boardgame communities
- Public speaking confidence
- Previous convention or volunteer experience
