Staff Coordinator
The Department of People & Culture (DPC) is a dedicated resource for our volunteers, both staff and crew, where our Vision & Purpose is to uphold a high standard of:

In pursuit of our Vision and Purpose, we are made up of individuals who work closely together to succeed in the following areas:
- Staff Talent Acquisition: Responsible for initial pass of applications within your remit, organising with the leader of that department to arrange interviews, and be the lead in the interview process, following up afterwards to recommend and support both the candidate and the leads you work with
- Staff Wellbeing: We represent SMASH! culture and care for our Staff’s wellbeing. We continuously check-in with staff under our remit, and look out for any knowledge gaps, furthering a volunteers’ engagement.
- Staff Recreation: We seek to engage our staff in activities outside of the main SMASH convention, including social opportunities, Staff after-parties and other activities when required
Administration: Supporting other Staff Coordinators in accurate record-keeping, transferring between departments, supporting disciplinary records and volunteer off-boarding
As a Staff Coordinator, you are an important part of the Staff Team. The responsibilities of your team are to cover the areas of:
- Talent acquisition
- Well-being of staff (and by extension when required, crew)
- Engagement and activities throughout the year
- Embodying and representing SMASH! culture
The deliverables that this could include, are:
- Organising new staff on-boarding
- Development and delivery of training activities
- Social posts, staff broadcasts and Slack engagement
- Understanding analytics and staff feedback
- Record updating, staff transfers and keeping abreast of any volunteer changes
The responsibilities of your role can include, but are not limited, to:
- Delegated tasks from the Director
- Collaboration with departments within your portfolio remit
- Carry the responsibilities and deliverables of the Staff Team within budget, on time, and in alignment to DPC’s Vision & Purpose
- Maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive information
- Ensure accurate record keeping on all volunteer movements
- Assisting in setup of training days, end of year engagements and other adhoc deliverables
- Manage staff wellbeing
- Manage and deliver cultural standards and strategy
- Fostering & leading SMASH! culture
