The Department of People & Culture (DPC) Crew Team is a dedicated team for our Crew Volunteers, where our Vision & Purpose is to uphold a high standard of:

In pursuit of our vision and purpose, the Crew Team look to specifically:

  • Recruit new Crew Members: Utilise various platforms within SMASH! (website, social media) to help grow the team, as well as the opportunity to visit various other activities around NSW.
  • Crew Wellbeing: Ensure training is of the highest standards to prepare Crew members for the event, they are looked after with breaks, and look towards a continuous improvement cycle via feedback to grow and evolve.
  • Crew Records: Maintain accurate records securely using internal systems.

Grievances and Conflicts: Be a voice and a conduit for grievances, to resolve amicably and professionally.

As a Senior Crew Coordinator, you are a core part of the Crew Team. The responsibilities of your team are mainly to:

  • Receive and carry out direction from your Crew Director
  • Carry out the responsibilities and deliverables of the Crew Team, aligning to DPC’s Vision & Purpose
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive information
  • Embodying & upholding SMASH! culture
  • Motivate, lead and inspire Crew through engagement activities.
  • Monitor and respond to Crew related enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain Crew wellbeing and support ensuring safety for these volunteers.
  • Managing and maintaining Crew records
  • Plan and deliver Crew training
  • Plan and deliver Crew recruitment
  • Receive and facilitate Crew grievances & conflicts
  • Manage and deliver Crew social platforms & initiatives
  • Resolve conflict between attendees, Crew and Staff
  • Assess risk during event planning or volunteer initiatives

Essential Skills & Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications

  • Compassionate & empathetic

  • Skills in Excel/Google Sheets
  • Strong communication skills
  • Extensive understanding & appreciation for confidentiality & respect
  • Contactable on a regular basis online and over the phone
  • Attend meetings, workshops and activities as required
  • Available for convention days in Sydney, and others as required with the role

  • Previous volunteer or customer service experience

Desirable

  • Experienced in event coordination and delivery.
  • Studying or working in the field of Human Resources
  • Proficient in data management
