Accessibility and Inclusion Advocate
SMASH! has commenced work through an inaugural Accessibility and Inclusion (A&I) Working Group to look for ways to reduce barriers for participation by our diverse attendee and participant communities, particularly for people with disabilities. SMASH! will be applying a social model of disability and be informed by current community needs and expectations.
We are sourcing a team of passionate individuals who can be champions of a Diversity and Inclusion program of work at SMASH and make the convention experience an amazing time for all attendees.
To be successful for the role we're looking for the following skills!
Essential Skills & Knowledge, Experiences, Qualifications
Skills and experience
- Working knowledge and understanding of current accessibility principles, for example Universal Design
- Up to date knowledge of inclusive language and practices
- Previous senior volunteer or customer service experience
Availability
- Contactable at least 2 days per week via email and phone
- Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly all-hands workshops as required
- Available in person for convention setup day (30 June 2023) and the convention days (1-2 July 2023)

- Current Mental Health First Aider certification
