Video Editor

The SMASH! Creative department is responsible for managing and producing all visual content required across the organisation.

Video Editors report directly to the Media Production Supervisor and will be given either a solo post production brief or collaborate with other editor/animators on the same project. They will also be working closely with other department members within SMASH!

Projects available may include promotional videos, interview videos, and other internal projects.

We recommend those who have studied a Digital Media Course, are currently working in the design industry, or have a strong passion for media and compositing to apply for this position. If you have experience in colour grading and cleaning audio but are not as confident in your motion graphics, you can consider applying for this position.

Video editors are responsible for delivering edited and polished video content for marketing and sponsorship use across the year. This may include content that will be published on SMASH! social media platforms including Youtube, Facebook videos, and Instagram Reels/IGTV, as well as the SMASH! Website and any third party collaborations.

Responsibilities include

  • Follow post-production briefs given by the director
  • Reviewing footage to manipulate and edit for projects
  • Input music, audio and sound effects that meets the brief
  • Taking in feedback from the Media Production Supervisor to align to the SMASH! theme and brand
  • Ensure a high level of communication is maintained with Media Production staff
  • Interact with tracking systems, adhere to SMASH’s storage management procedures and backup process.
  • Distribute and share knowledge regularly to assist in ongoing development of content.

To be successful for the role we're looking for the following skills!

Essential Skills & Knowledge, Experiences, Qualifications

  • Experience with editing video content, including mixing audio and colour grading
  • Access to, and experience with, video editing software such as After Effects, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
  • Experience or interest in motion graphics, ability to create video assets such as transitions, lower thirds, end cards, etc
  • Contactable on a regular basis via email and phone.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Attend meetings, workshops and activities as required.
