COVID-19 Announcement

Dear SMASH! community,

It is with immense disappointment that we announce our decision to postpone SMASH! 2021. With just under three months until SMASH! 2021, we believe that it is in the best interest of public safety to hold SMASH! at another safer time.

We were hopeful that the situation could take a turn for the better by the end of August. However, with under three months of preparation remaining we understand it is extremely stressful for exhibitors, artists, and our volunteer staff team to prepare for a large event with high levels of uncertainty.

This decision was made based on a number of factors, including considerations for our staff wellbeing, attendee and crew satisfaction, and our ability to continue organising and providing a great con experience in the long term.

We know many of you were super keen to finally attend SMASH! 2021 after our first postponement (our website crashing was definitely a sign!), but your safety and well-being is our top priority. We also don’t want to run an event filled with restrictions and unease, potentially tainting what should be a fun, fulfilling and exciting experience.

There is, however, good news! We already have our eyes set on our new dates!

SMASH! 2022 will be held on 16 & 17 July 2022 at ICC Sydney!

 

What will happen to current ticket holders?

If you already purchased a SMASH! 2021 ticket (or even held onto your SMASH! 2020 one) your ticket(s) will still be valid for SMASH! 2022. All current ticket holders won’t need to do anything else – you will be receiving an email shortly with more details. For further enquiries, please email 2021@smash.org.au

 

If you are unable to make the new event dates

If you are unable to make the new event dates, a full refund is also available. If you want to refund your ticket(s), please fill out the refund request form. Refunds will only be available until Monday 11 April 2022 at 11:59 pm AEST. Please note that refunds will only be available if you purchased your tickets in 2020 or 2021. After Monday 11 April 2022, our standard refund policies will apply to all tickets, including those purchased in 2020 and 2021. Refunds will be provided to the purchaser’s credit card and will require up to 15 business days.

If you bought tickets for a group and want a refund on individual tickets

If you have a group order, but would prefer a refund on individual tickets, please fill out the refund request form. Refunds will only be available until Monday 11 April 2022 at 11:59 pm AEST. Please note that refunds will only be available if you purchased your tickets in 2020 or 2021. After Monday 11 April 2022, our standard refund policies will apply to all tickets, including those purchased in 2020 and 2021. Refunds will be provided to the purchaser’s credit card and will require up to 15 business days.

 

We won’t give up on our passion to deliver the best Japanese pop-culture convention in Australia, and we hope you will come and join us again on 16 & 17 July 2022. Until then, we will be working hard to bring you the safe, fun, and exciting convention that we’ve all been waiting for.

FAQ

I have a ticket for SMASH! 2020/2021. What will happen to current ticket holders?

Your ticket will still be valid for our next event on 16 & 17 July 2022. If you are willing to hold on to your ticket(s), you won’t need to do anything else – you should have already received your tickets for SMASH! 2022. If you still haven’t received your new tickets please contact us.

When and where will the next event be held?

The next event will be held on 16 & 17 July 2022 at the ICC Sydney.

What if I hold on to my ticket, but then can’t make the next event later?
